Auto Vert. This dialog box controls the positioning of Auto Vert rules only. The Radio buttons control positioning on a column by column basis and the entry values are table wide.
Column/Gutter. This radio pair selects the primary position of the rule to be either in the column or the gutter.
Left/Center. This radio pair sets the rule in the center or left of the primary position. As the gutter for a column always precedes the column, the rule can be placed with these controls at the left of the gutter to the center of the column.
Horizontal. This entry can modify the primary position chosen by the radio buttons. However, the adjustment is table wide and is meant as a fine adjustment to control the joining of rules.
Vertical Top. The vertical top of an Auto Vert rule is normally the offset from the baseline of the leading and any paragraph space above. If the rule is for a cell that has an Auto Box than the offset includes the height of the box. This entry allows the top of all AutoVert rules to be adjusted for proper joining with horizontal rules.
Vertical Bot. The vertical bottom of an Auto Vert rule is normally an offset from the baseline which is the space after a paragraph return. It can be adjusted table-wide with this entry.
Rule Weight. Initial weight for all Vertical rules. It can be adjusted afterwards by using the QuarkXPress Item-Modify.
